What is Mexicano in beach tennis?
It is rotating doubles with individual standings, where results help shape subsequent matches. In Super Beach, you choose the round count but do not receive every matchup at the start: generate one round at a time after completing previous scores.
Choose it for a session where players want varied partners and a sequence that responds to court results. The aim is to bring comparable records together and distribute appearances, not guarantee balanced matches: ability, fitness and chemistry still matter.
Players, courts and rounds
Supported sizes are five to twenty players, excluding eight, twelve and sixteen, reserved for traditional Individual Supers. Choose one to five courts, with at least four players per court, and one to thirty rounds.
| Measure | Count |
|---|---|
| Players / courts | 10 / 2 |
| Chosen rounds | 5 |
| Matches per round | 2 |
| Playing / resting per round | 8 / 2 |
| Total matches on completion | 10 |
| Matches / byes per player in this example | 4 / 1 |
Court count determines matches in each round. With one court and ten players, four play and six rest. With two, eight play and two rest. Not every round count ends with equal appearances: review the participation estimate before starting.
How the app chooses the next round
First, distribute appearances
The app prioritizes players with fewer matches. Ties consider who has gone longer without playing; remaining ties can be drawn. A bye awards no points or win.
Then, bring comparable records together
Among the players selected to play, it uses standings to form groups of four with nearby records. The initial scheduling basis uses per-match averages and the ranking policy’s criteria. Do not confuse this with the totals view you may use for standings.
Form pairs while considering previous matches
The app considers the difference between the sides’ records and penalizes repeated partners and opponents, particularly recent ones. The draw also influences composition. It is not a rigid 1st + 4th versus 2nd + 3rd formula, or a promise never to repeat players.
The opening round has no results yet: the initial list and draw guide the matchups. Later rounds use recorded scores. This guide explains how Super Beach organizes rounds; other events may use different Mexicano rules.
Two rounds from the same tournament
In Giro da Praia 10, Rafael and Bruno win 6–2; Diego and Caio win 6–3. Arthur and Nicolas have byes. Once scores are complete, see who returns to court and how the new matches are formed. This is one possible sequence using fictional data: later matchups depend on these results, appearances, previous matches and the draw, rather than a complete schedule set at the start.
| Round / match | Pair A | Pair B | Score |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 / 1 | Rafael Lima + Bruno Melo | Lucas Costa + Pedro Luz | 6–2 |
| 1 / 2 | Diego Alves + Caio Rocha | Gabriel Reis + Vitor Dias | 6–3 |
Byes: Arthur Sol, Nicolas Mar.

| Position | Player | Matches | Wins / match | Difference / match |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Rafael Lima | 1 | 1 | 4 |
| 1 | Bruno Melo | 1 | 1 | 4 |
| 3 | Diego Alves | 1 | 1 | 3 |
| 3 | Caio Rocha | 1 | 1 | 3 |
| 5 | Arthur Sol | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| 5 | Nicolas Mar | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| 7 | Gabriel Reis | 1 | 0 | -3 |
| 7 | Vitor Dias | 1 | 0 | -3 |
| 9 | Lucas Costa | 1 | 0 | -4 |
| 9 | Pedro Luz | 1 | 0 | -4 |
| Round / match | Pair A | Pair B | Score |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 / 1 | Diego Alves + Nicolas Mar | Caio Rocha + Arthur Sol | To play |
| 2 / 2 | Vitor Dias + Lucas Costa | Gabriel Reis + Pedro Luz | To play |
Now Rafael Lima, Bruno Melo have byes. Arthur and Nicolas enter after resting in round one. Diego and Caio, who won together, become opponents. This is one possible sequence, not mandatory matchups for every Mexicano.
Organizer choices and score checks
Choose players, courts, rounds and ranking policy. With byes, pay attention to court time: the app seeks to distribute appearances, but an interrupted session can leave unequal counts.
The initial reference is 6 games. This version’s creation form does not offer a score-target selector. A score reference alone does not define how a match ends.
Before generating the next round
Complete all current-round scores and check the names. Only then generate the next round. You cannot prepare every round in advance while preserving the influence of results that do not exist yet.
If a result needs correcting
The latest generated round can be undone while it has no scores or walkovers. Check the correction before generating again. Do not assume changing an earlier result automatically rearranges rounds already played.
Final standings and scheduling serve different purposes
Next-round scheduling uses partial standings and previous matches to arrange players. Tournament standings compare each player’s record under the selected policy. A winning pair gives both partners the same result.
The Super Beach default
The record belongs to the player, even though matches are doubles. Compare total wins first, then game difference (for minus against), then games for.

| Per player | W | GF | GA | GD |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Each winner | 1 | 6 | 3 | +3 |
| Each loser | 0 | 3 | 6 | −3 |
W: wins · GF: games for · GA: games against · GD: difference.
Mexicano questions
Do those scores always produce the same next round?
No. The draw, tied standings, how often each player has played and previous matchups also matter. The example shows two rounds from the same tournament, but other matchups can be generated.
Will I always face someone of my ability?
There is no guarantee. The app considers records and previous matches; one score does not measure a player’s full ability.
Can I keep one partner?
The Mexicano described here is individual with rotating partners. For fixed partners and a chosen round count, use Create your Super’s fixed-pair mode.
Can I stop after any round?
Agree session length beforehand. Stopping before the chosen sequence ends may leave unequal appearances; check totals or averages and outstanding ties before deciding results.
Run the session in Super Beach
- Open New tournament, choose Create your Super and tap Create new. Creating this format requires PRO.
- In the form, keep the Individual category and select Mexicano mode. Enter a supported size, names, courts and round count.
- Review courts, ranking criteria and names before generating the schedule. Agree event rules with the players.
- Call matches as courts become available and enter completed scores. Check results and outstanding issues before moving on.
- At the end, resolve outstanding ties, check standings and make a file backup. Local scorekeeping can work offline; publishing and updating a Live Link requires a connection.
After each round, review scores and byes, generate the next and announce the new partnerships. Once the chosen count is reached, review standings rather than looking for an automatic final.

Choose King/Queen in Create your Super for another supported size with a full schedule. For eight, twelve or sixteen people, traditional Individual Supers provide a sequence set before the opening match.
